Your hosts of the 3rd generation, Nadine and Rivka
Long, long ago Alois Eder, our Great-grandfather was a farmer up on the Schwendberg in Hippach, just like his father before him. The family tree goes back to our Great-, great-, great-, great-, great-, great-grandfather, Thomas Eder, born 1728. The family home, which goes back to the farmhouse built in 1608 - the Innenmühltal - still stands today. Our forefathers, on my mother’s side, came from Ramsberg, from the PENZING Guest House which is still open today and where some of the specialities in our Schnaps Bar have their origin.
Grandfather Johann was supposed to be a farmer but a natural catastrophe put an end to that plan. In 1951, together with his sister, Marie, and his parents, he moved into the new house they had mostly built themselves, “Trautheim,” on the Schormis in Hippach in Mayrhofen. This step took a lot of courage but, even at that time, the family demonstrated their farsightedness by building on at the same time a few more rooms – at that time the only sanitary facilities were a wash basin and jug.
The story of the Alpenblick began in 1956 at the same place. This time very comfortably furnished with hot and cold running water and central heating.
Summer Tourism in the Zillertal reached its peak in the 70s and 80’s and provided the wherewithal for today’s tourist infrastructure which is today admired and respected in international circles.
Erich and Ramona created their HOLIDAY CASTLE which fulfilled all the most modern expectations and ran it for many years, imbuing in it their personality and their love of caring for their guests and their hotel.
Since the year 2000 the ALPENBLICK has glowed, clad in its new robes, after a lavish renovation, all done with careful consideration for family traditions. Some of the very old and even some of the original parts were used for the rebuilding retrieved from our family’s past e.g. beams and parts with inscriptions and carved patterns. In the classical wooden beam ceiling in the castle’s snuggery you can admire the beamed supporting truss under the roof which was brought from INNERMÜHLTAL, the family home.
Our daughter, Nadine, and her partner, Rivka, take over the management of the hotel in the third generation. Both run the hotel with sensitivity, inspiration and the assured care for the guests and the hotel as practiced by previous generations.

Freelance artist, gallery proprietor, born in the Zillertal, resident in Vienna. Marco Timo Eder was born in the Tirol and grew up, like all the other family members in Schwendau, Tirol, in the Zillertal. Very early on in his youth, he discovered and pursued his love for artistic creativity. He completed his studies at the University of Art in Linz, with distinction. Today he lives and works as a freelance artist in Vienna. In his studio with a small gallery, at Burggasse 61, near the museum quarter, he regularly exhibits his various works.
ARTISTIC CREATIVITY
Marco Timo Eder works with acrylics on larger Formats, supplemented by the additional application of modelling techniques and collages to obtain a more distinctive effect. Using a new technique which he has especially developed for himself, his portraits, mostly multi-part, appear like a fresco and look very old. In many of the complicated, difficult stages of his work, he creates an almost mystical effect which stays in the mind of the observer for a very long time.
